"I really enjoyed this book. I was a little skeptical initially because I thought it was going to be too romancy for me. Boy was I wrong. While love is a pivotal theme, it did not come at the expense of drama and suspense. I most enjoyed the way the author moves us along melodically through a range of characters and intriguing moments in time that almost feels like an enthralling period piece. Very good read!"

"I honestly wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this book at first, but the voice of the author is so strong and convincing that I was immediately sucked in. The characters are so dynamic and feel real, so even though it's an action-packed and exciting plot, it never loses that feel of authenticity. Would definitely recommend!"

"The story was gripping, even disturbing at times. The author paints a vivid picture of life in the game, but at the same time, it's a love story. I'm from the inner city, and you can feel the authentic vibe throughout the entire story. I couldn't help myself, I became emerged in the emotions of the characters, especially in the relationship between AD and Paz. Their struggle was so real, their connection so powerful. The author obviously knows something about that life. Makes me wonder. I'll probably read it again in a few weeks. I think the story would make a great movie."

"The characters are complex and genuine, the plot is unpredictable, the entire feel of the story is so authentic it was hard not to be consumed with emotion. I was swept away into the world of AD and Paz, rooting for them through it all. Probably the best book I've read this year so far. A must read for any fiction lover. "

"What an exciting read from a first time author! I was curious about this book being familiar with the northeastern setting and way of life in the urban city and was thoroughly pleased. It took me to a time I remember and the loyalties, relationships, and family bonds that existed in the midst of the criminal activity were well written and explored. The character AD (Adrian) was so well developed, I couldn’t put the book down without worrying of his outcome in the drug world in which he walked. The writer gave me a clear sense of the characters and their life in the game. Looking for a good read, filled with passion, criminal activity, life pressures and unpredictable love, check this one out."

What a journey! I picked the book up and literally did not put it down until I finished reading it in its entirety. Daniel Ali, with his authentic voice as a storyteller, from the first page, pulls you into the life of the main character of the story, as well as, every other character in the book compelling you to turn the page. It’s a well-written story, and it keeps you connected to the humanity of AD, Paz, and the people around them…their frailties, trepidations, aspirations, passions, and convictions. Can’t wait to read what’s next from Daniel Ali.
